Razzle’s story really begins with her mother, Maeve, Can Ch Kulana Dream On Bright Star. Maeve was one of four pups out of Am/Can Ch Scarlet Victory Bright Star, Am/Can CD, JH, VC (Nike’s) second litter. Nike’s first litter, bred by Matt, Wendy and Tracy Czarnecki (Leisek) and sired by Heidi and Valerie Gervais’ Am/Can Ch Lyn Erin Midnight Blue (Blue) produced Bright Star’s first Irish Setter Dual Champion and the breed’s 17th, DC & Amtr Fld Ch/Can Ch Cordon Bleu Bright Star, JH (Tempe).Nike’s first litter produced very intelligent and extraordinarily high energy pups. For her second litter, Valerie suggested that we use her Am/Can Ch MiJean’s Court Jester, CD (C.J.) to hopefully tone them down a trifle. We got three calm and good-natured pups and Maeve, a handful and a half. She was placed on a co-ownership but later returned to Wendy.  Wendy was able to place her with Valerie Gervais in British Columbia to mature.

Eventually Maeve was bred to a son of Blue, Am/Can Ch Kulana Qismet’s Rhuzara CD, TDX, Am TD, CGC (Rebel). This was a line breeding of Tempe’s half brother to her half sister. Wendy flew to British Columbia to see the pups at 8 weeks. Two of the girls were very intriguing, showing great promise athletically and conformationally, and having exceptionally long attention spans. They were outstanding when it came to wing work and exploration of their surroundings. Wendy couldn’t make up her mind and took both of them, Razzle and Bravo, home to California. 

After running in the ISCA National Field Trial Derby Classic and Futurity, Razzle took a break to raise a litter of puppies in the spring of 2004. She was bred to our exciting young male, Am/Can/Mex/Int Ch Starbrite Marvel Bright Star, SH (Journey) also a DCH hopeful. Upon recovering from her whelping duties, Razzle went back to field trainer, Trena Cardwell in Washington State. Her training went well and she was soon coming around clean in Gun Dog stakes with Trena. Matt Czarnecki took over handling Razzle then, and handled her to all of her field trial points. Razzle won three major Gun Dog stakes, including one in all-pointing breed competition, and finished her Field Championship on February 18, 2006.

It was now time for the glamour girl route back to the show ring. To accomplish this Razzle went back to live with Heidi Gervais in British Columbia. In August 2006 she went Winners Bitch at the Irish Setter Club of Canada’s National Specialty. She finished her Canadian Championship on April 13, 2007 and her first AKC major followed shortly afterward in June. Then there followed eight long months of major reserves. Frustrating indeed, but persistence finally paid off when on March 28, 2008 she finished her AKC Championship and thereby her Dual, going Winners Bitch at the Irish Setter Club of Central California specialty under judge Honey Glendinning.
