There is no doubt that Spryte is the “top dog” in our household.  She has an abundant amount of energy which is a typical Irish Setter trait.  At home she can be a crazy lunatic running in our field chasing the ball or birds.  When  it is ball time, she  jumps in circles and barks getting herself completely wound up – sometimes so much that she misses the throw!  And yet on the bench at the Cow Palace dog show, I have seen her being calm and sweet with a little girl who   sat next to her to pose for a photo! The minute the girl stopped petting her she gently put her paw on the little girl’s lap.  That is so Spryte; calm and sweet one minute and a boundless stream of energy the next – she can be a force to be reckoned with, just ask the resident squirrels that taunt her.

She is very smart and learns quickly.  She acts tough at times but has a soft interior. She is an all around fun dog and a great companion.

What’s Next?

Spryte’s field career was on hold for maternity duties (April 2022- August 2022). Unfortunately, it has been on hold longer than expected due to Tracy’s foot surgery in October of 2022. Then in October of 2023 she again became the mother of 10 beautiful puppies.   Spryte resumed her field training in the Fall of 2023 and successfully  finished her Junior Hunter title in February of 2024.  She will now go on to work towards  her Senior Hunter title.
